Dokkyo Medical University Saitama Medical Center is a university affiliated hospital located in Saitama Prefecture, 30 minutes away from the city center by train. Serving a population of 7.5 million, our hospital offers highly advanced medical procedures.
The Neurosurgery Department carries out 560 surgical procedures per year. Another characteristic of our medical facility is the 260 endovascular surgeries carried out per year making us a leading facility for endovascular treatments in Japan. Designated as the key regional hospital for acute cerebral infarction treatments, a large number of acute revascularization treatments are carried out at our hospital. With a hybrid operating room equipped
with the latest angiography equipment along with an angiography procedure room with the same level of function, we are able to offer advanced endovascular treatments. Prompt acute phase treatments are made possible through regional coordination. In cases where craniotomy is prioritized, procedures such as clips, bypasses, and CEA are actively carried out.
Just under 100 brain tumor extraction surgeries are carried out per year with an emphasis on preserving function by utilizing awake brain surgery along with intraoperative CT scans, the latest intraoperative monitoring equipment, and navigation systems. Many difficult extraction procedures for tumors located at the base of the skull, in the orbit, and in the brainstem are also carried out. Our hospital is a general hospital that also treats many cases related to spinal, functional, and pediatric disorders and carries out medical examinations through the coordination of a range of medical departments.
